This project was situated on an approximately 550-acre portion of the Bunker Hill Superfund Site, situated at the base of the Silver Mountain Ski Resort. Work included preparation a Joint NWP 39/Individual 401 Water Quality Certification Act from the ACOE and IDEQ for stream impacts associated with the development. Mitigation entailed the restoration an approximately 505 linear section of the main stem and western portions of Magnet Gulch and the establishment of floodplain and buffer adjacent to the restored stream.
The project required Institutional Control Training prior to the development planning and of site work due to the underlain contaminated soils. Site work included the placement of fill material over a majority of the site, extensive grading, and re-vegetation of approximately 110-acres for the 18-hole golf course, and commercial and residential development sited for an additional 230-acres of the site. Approximately 200-acres of the site was retained as open space.
