WEC has been actively involved in the design, construction, and monitoring of a number of mitigation sites within the Pacific Northwest and East Coast. These projects have entailed project management, site monitoring, maintenance coordination, agency coordination, and reporting over the course of the monitoring contract. Contracts have varied from two to ten years depending upon the jurisdiction and state. Each project has been completed in compliance with the US Army Corps of Engineers, specific state governing body, and/or municipal permit standard employed.
WEC maintains a Registered Landscape Architect who works closely with our environmental professionals to design and prepare requisite mitigation and enhancement plans for wetlands, streams, buffers, and wildlife habitat projects.
Wetland banking is a means to provide compensatory mitigation through the purchase of credits from an accredited wetland bank for impacts to state and federal wetlands associated with public and private development activities. WEC along with its strategic partner Wetland Specialists Northwest have been instrumental in the development of banking instruments including the initial site evaluations, preparation of the draft and final banking documents, guidance through the approval process, and construction inspections and field monitoring.
We are proud to have been the first team of wetland scientists to receive certification by the Washington State Department of Ecology for the Meadowcroft Mitigation bank in Eastern Washington.
